It’s Just One Foot After the Other

Standard

Not really sure who coined the term ‘fun run’ but I’d like to officially say s/he is a goose. I can think of at least a dozen other adjectives to describe running and fun is certainly not one of them. (No one is really smiling during the race like these kids in this photo!) And after running my first 10kms on the weekend I feel I’m qualified to comment on the subject.

I heart books

Standard

I have a confession to make. For those of you that don’t know I’m a total and utter book worm. Crazy about books. To the point where one just never seems to be enough. I can easily have two or three books on the go. And sometimes that’s not even enough. I blame my Mum for this ‘problem’ for she read books or made up stories for me in bed each night as far back as I can remember.

I love most everything about books. Especially older, pre-loved ones. I love their fragrance. It’s like all the time of readers gone by has been captured in amongst the pages and exudes out every time the book is opened thereafter.

Tasty Creations

Standard

I can’t believe it’s been almost a month since my last post! In all fairness, I am managing two blogs now – this personal one and a professional one – so time just seems to slip on by. Anyway, lots of yummi-ness to this one. Enjoy.

For as long as I can remember I’ve had a sweet tooth. A real love for sweets and sugary treats. As a result, although I’m not great at cooking, I do fancy myself as a bit of a baker. I can make cookies, cupcakes, mufffins and my specialty – chocolate hedgehog. And, even though I’ve tried my hand at a few cakesĀ  I’m not really that much of a cake maker. And even if I was, I’d be no match for these spectacular tasty creations.

Christian as a playful cub

I first saw the story of Christian the Lion a few years back through YouTube. Christian was a lion cub who had been bought at Harrods Department Store by two Australians (yes, bought, this was in the late 60s before animal laws changed). His owners, John Hendall and Ace Bourke, kept and cared for him just like you would any other pet. But of course, Christian was not like any other pet. He was growing up to become the King of the Jungle.

Sun + Rain = Radiant Rainbow

Standard

Being in a sub-tropical part of the country, (I live on the Gold Coast in Australia for those that don’t know) we can often have a lovely sunny day end with darkness, clouds and thunder. The juxtaposition of the two is nothing but beautiful. Mother Nature at her best and worst all in the one place, on the one day.

The image below shows this natural contrast. A sight that is not so often seen in many places, but quite readily where I live.

Have a Merry Christmas, Indeed!

Standard

With only one sleep to go until the big C day and understandably a lot of pressure is in the air and stress levels are high, I thought I’d share a few festive moments with you to help get you into the spirit giggling.

Saddy Claus

Everyone knows the tradition of the Santa photo. And everyone knows there are many photos taken with crying children. Well how about this picture? Apparently, Santa gets stressed too! I really hope Mum and Dad didn’t have to pay for this – considering Santa is horrified too!

Just an Ordinary Day

Is this the world's best bus stop?

As you may remember from a previous post, I usually catch public transport to work. And you may also remember, from that same post, that I don’t mind it so much. Sure, I could complain about the bus that never comes, the man that stands near me at the stop that has a less-than-pleasant odour, or even the annoying walk I have to do when my shoe has broken and my feet hurt.

But really, I just enjoy the lovely sights I have along the way. Starting with this one to the right. Yep, that is the view I usually have whilst I wait for the bus… see my stop is in the bottom corner of the image.
